Council for the Arts of Herndon Scholarship Applications for 2012
The applications for CAH scholarships for 2012 are now online. Applications are due by close of business April 20, 2012. Scholarships will be awarded at the Herndon Town Council public meeting on May 22, 2012 at 7:00 pm. Awardees will be notified in advance. Please call 703-689-9535 with any questions.
Council for the Arts of Herndon holds awards ceremony at 2012 Annual Meeting
The Council for the Arts of Herndon (CAH) held it's Annual Meeting on Monday, January 23, 2012 at O'Sullivan's Irish Pub in historic downtown Herndon. President Grace Wolf presented a brief overview of some of the organization's key events and partnerships for the year. CAH also honored and presented awards to the following:
Business Sponsor of the Year: Russia House Restaurant, owners Ali and Homeyra Darugar
Project of the Year: Nachman Mural, Howard and Arthur Nachman
Volunteer of the Year: Chris Griffin, Griffin-Owens Insurance
President's Award: Karen Cobb, former Executive Director

Council for the Arts of Herndon dedicates mural on Nachman Building to Town of Herndon
The Council for the Arts of Herndon was delighted to dedicate the commissioned mural representing Herndon’s Historic past to the Town of Herndon. The Council for the Arts of Herndon Board of Directors were joined by Arthur and Howard Nachman, the Herndon Festival Committee, representatives from the Herndon Town Council and Ann Rust, member of the Virginia Commission for the Arts and the Arts Council of Fairfax. Many thanks go to Arthur and Howard Nachman for their support and the use of the their building. The dedication ceremony was held Thursday, June 2, 2011, the first night of the 2011 Herndon Festival. This mural, done entirely with aerosol art, was created and painted by artists Bobby Moore, Eric B. Ricks and Dan Roncevalles.
Mural Jam Brings Aerosol Art to Herndon
A very cold and windy day in Herndon could not stop our Aerosol Artists Bobby Moore, Eric B. Ricks, Daniel Roncesvalles and James Franzen from creating their art on 12 x 8 foot panels at Trailside Park on November 27.

Please join the Council for the Arts of Herndon, the Herndon Woman's Club and the Herndon Fortnightly Club as we hold our 3rd Annual High Tea at Russia House honoring women in the arts.

The Virginia Commission for the Arts Minds Wide Open program is focusing on children and the arts this year, so we are honoring Mary Ann Hall for her many years of work with the Elden Street Players as Director of the Theater for Young Audiences and Leslie Casey for her years of education Herndon students in the arts. 2011 SAIC Tech Arts Award Winners
The Council for the Arts awards congratulates all of the Fairfax County Schools students that participated in the 7th Annual Tech Arts competition for their fine work. The Council would like to extend a special thanks to Tamra Ferreira and Aaron Stratten, Art Instructional Specialists for Fairfax County Public Schools, to the Fairfax County School Board and to the wonderful art teachers in our schools.
